This Southern Trace residence was recently remodeled by Josh Knicely of Josh Knicely Builders. The Cottage had the pleasure of working with Mr. Knicely, his decorator Katharine Knicely, and the homeowner to redesign the kitchen, laundry, and guest bath areas of the home. As you can see from the “before” photos these spaces were in need of a refresh. The homeowner desired a more vibrant, lighter and updated look for these high-profile areas within her home.
To achieve the desired transformation, interior designer, Katie Stanfield of The Cottage, worked with Katharine Knicely and the homeowner to create spaces that were more reflective of the couple’s personal style. Katie’s use of innovative products found only at The Cottage, including artisan inspired tile from Artistic Tile, pre-finished, furniture-grade cabinetry from Bentwood Luxury Kitchens and well-respected appliance brands such as Sub-Zero, Wolf, Miele as well as Fisher & Paykel allowed her to meet the functional needs as well as the stylistic desires of the homeowner.
During the collaborative design process, it was determined that the addition of custom storage features, reorientation of the center island as well as the addition of the large perimeter island would allow the spaces to work much more efficiently for the homeowner and more appropriately reflect the family’s overall lifestyle needs. Ultimately, careful and strategic space planning, coupled with attention to every interior design detail, created spaces that reflect a transitional flare, while seamlessly blending with the traditional elements of the home.
The stunning “after” photos are proof positive that any space, in any home, can become the room of your dreams and function to meet your lifestyle needs with the right collaboration between the homeowner, builder, decorator and designer.
